While we all depend on air to live, what a lot don’t realize is that quality is a big deal too. That’s why ventilation has to factor in when you’re picking out windows for your home. There are three window types that we strongly recommend here at Windows by Andersen® of Omaha and Lincoln, if ventilation is what you’re looking for.
Chances are that—when you’re trying to imagine windows in Omaha, it’s the classic double, hung that you’re thinking of. They open upwards to exactly half the height of the windows themselves. This allows for a lot of air to come into—and out of—your home, which ensures proper ventilation. Among all the window options available however, double-hung provide the least space for air to travel.
Casement windows are on the opposite end of the spectrum. Because—essentially—the entire window opens up, a lot of air can be circulated in and out with just one casement window open. The only limitation when it comes to casement windows is that they take a lot of space—so they don’t work too well in a bedroom where privacy is a priority. A great placement suggestion is in the kitchen above the sink where—you know it’s true—the air needs constant, well, airing out.
Among the three options, sliding Omaha windows have the biggest potential when it comes to ventilation because we allow for great customization. You can make your sliding windows as tall and wide as they need to be to suit the theme or purpose of an area in your home. As such, they can open up really wide—limited as double-hung windows—to half the size of the whole window itself. This potentially leaves a lot of room to aid in proper circulation. Just watch out for those drafts!
